And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

-Ephesians 6:17

Would you go onto the battlefield without a single weapon?

As the daughter of God, your everyday life is a battle. The enemy is constantly targeting you. He knows the greatness that the Lord has place inside you, and because you are a precious gem, he’s trying to steal you for himself. Every day, you’re battling with evil so that one day you will be in Heaven with your Father. There’s only one way we can fight this battle – with the word of God.

Temptation – it’s the enemy’s weapon. He’s so smart. He has studied you and watched you. He knows your strengths and your weaknesses. He knows how to play his cards. You asked your parents if you could go out this evening but they both said no. The enemy knows that you don’t know your Bible that well, so he creeps into your head and tells you, “The Bible says nothing about jail-breaking. Just go.” So you decide to listen to the enemy, because you are more than sure that the Bible says nothing about jumping over the gate and getting into a friend’s car behind your parents’ backs. However, you didn’t know that the fifth of the Ten Commandments tells us not to dishonor our parents. When you jail-broke, that’s exactly what you did.

Scripture is our ammunition.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

-Colossians 3:16

In the above verse, Paul tells us to guard the word of God in our hearts. It’s so important to know the word of God just like the back of our hands, so that when we’re about to fall into temptation, we can fight the enemy with scripture. When you get to a place where Bible verses roll off your tongue without you having to think about it, the enemy will not be able to succeed. When Satan tried to tempt Jesus, as we are told in Luke 4, Jesus immediately retaliates by quoting the Bible. “For it is written…” he says.

Jesus set an example for us but if we do not have the word of God hidden in our hearts, how will we declare that IT IS WRITTEN? We cannot fight our battle without a weapon. When Satan swings at us with his sword, we should be able to swing back at him with the sword of the Spirit. We have the armor, we’re just not using it. Let us be women who wear the armor of God so that when Satan challenges us to a battle, we will be ready to fight.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

-Ephesians 6:11

God truly loves you.

With Love,

Mandile
