And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
-Ephesians 6:17

In my last post entitled "are you ready to fight (pt. 1)", I spoke about how, as Christians our everyday lives are a battle. In this post, I’m going to address two other battles which I’ve termed the “faith battle” and the “final battle”.

If you’ve watched the movie “God’s Not Dead”, then you probably know what a faith battle is. Side note: I’ll try my best not to spoil it for those of you who haven’t watched it! If you haven’t watched it, please do. In the movie, the main actor was faced with the challenge of proving the existence of God. If you didn’t know, the movie was actually based on a bunch of true stories, so it is more than possible that you will be asked to defend your faith. The faith battle is one in which you have to fight to defend your faith. You might meet an atheist who’s trying to convince you that there is no God or you might be asked by a curious person why you believe in God.

Are you ready to fight the faith battle?

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear
-1 Peter 3:15

The final battle pertains to the last fight – the ultimate fight between good and evil. There will come a time when owning a Bible will be frowned upon (Read 2 Timothy 4:3). Do you know the word well enough to not need a physical copy? There are Christians who are being prosecuted for their faith and it has always been happening and it will never stop. You are not safe from that. When you have the word of God in your heart, you will be able to endure whatever the world throws at you to try and get you deny Christ.

Are you ready to fight the final battle?

But you must continue in the things which you have learned and assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be equipped for every good work.
-2 Timothy 3:14-17 (Read 2 Timothy 4:1-5 as well)

Reading the Bible daily is a way to properly equip oneself to fight both the faith battle and the final battle. One does not go to war with just one pistol. In the same way, we can’t fight our battles with just one “memory verse”. If someone were to ask you why you believe in God the Father and in Jesus Christ, how would you tell them? How will you explain your love for God if you can’t tell them where in the Bible God says He loves us?

As 1 Peter 3:15 says, we need to be ready to defend our faith. As young women of God, we have to read and meditate on the word daily so that we will be able to fight our battles.

Again I say, scripture is our ammunition.

God truly loves you.

With Love,
Mandile
